Donna over at Funky Junk Interiors can turn a pallet into just about anything if given the opportunity. Recently she's released a great list of tips and tricks that cover everything from what pallets to choose to how to remove nails and make the boards usable.
Although we've used pallets for all sorts of things in the past, we've never really put too much consideration into how we can make the utilization of this discarded product easier. Be careful when taking pallets from behind businesses. I know in Dallas a lot of companies that use pallets contract with people that sell them back to shipping companies. There are also a lot of "DIY Contractors" that drive around and collect them. While they have no legal action, I've heard stories about terrible things these people have done to other pallet takers, so be careful
