Strolling to the gym the other night, we stopped short in front of a window display of sculptures created by local Berkeley artisans. One of the artists represented was Jana Olson, the owner of Panache Lighting (a company that specializes in lighting repair). Her lamp collection made us smile.

The series of lights (which Olson calls her "Kitchen Collection") are one of a kind sculpture/lamps made from discarded kitchen tools and utensils—teapots, whisks, egg beaters, forks, salt shakers.

Olson is also open to making custom pieces—which means she could create a lamp or chandelier out of your kitchenware. We love this idea as a way of preserving items that get little use but carry sentimental value.
