While I'm celebrating designs from across the pond today, here is a fabulous wall covering from Bleu Nature, a craft-based business located in Northern France. Built entirely with wood from certified and sustainably managed forests that is then glued to particle board, it makes up in impact what it may lack in everyday practicality.

This Pixels of Driftwood in Relief Wall Panel is part of Bleu Nature's Design by Bleu Nature Wall Coverings Collection. Each piece of wood in the panel is naturally polished using only water and is positioned by hand during manufacturing. The panels, measuring 29.5 inches x 45.3 inches, provide for excellent sound insulation. At nearly 3 inches thick, each panel weighs about 50 pounds.
Bleu Nature also designs furniture, lighting, and accessories that showcase the technical skills of French craftsman along with the inherent beauty of nature. There unique products are built using found driftwood as the principal material, but often also using pebbles, leather, lacquered metal and petrified wood.
Unfortunately, Bleu Nature only sells to professionals and businesses, but you can find a list of businesses in the United States that carry their line here. Martin Showroom is Saint Helena is the closest carrier of their goods to the Bay Area

Totally agree. That is a fantastic textural experience in the right space. Frankly, a little dust would only enhance it.
I love that look. There was a wall in the crate & barrel catalog with squares that was lovey too. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/Catalogue/View-Online.aspx?catalog_name=august2009&RFX_Res=high
No source though.
I love the look but I really wouldn't be able to handle the dust--It is definitely a deal breaker for me.
This is beautiful! Its a little funky but its so organic and natural that it seems almost effortless, like it was born there. I did a materials study a few weeks ago and the final product turned out with a similar look. Check it out at http://sarahailene.squarespace.com/furniture-design/
