This board book of colors doesn't just hit the big 9, it also introduces the idea of shades -- 20 for each color. We think it would make an excellent gift for expecting designer parents who want their offspring to be able to discriminate between lettuce green and grass green, among others, right out of the gate.

This board book is colorful and bright for very young kids and a great way to talk about color with older ones. It might be fun to take it around your house trying to match colors in your home to ones in the book.
The Pantone Colors board book is published by Abrams and was just released.

I'd definitely buy this as a gift for a little kid, although I might then change my mind and keep it for myself.
I just bought this for a designer friend who is due in April! It's really well made and the colors are beautiful!
My husband is a graphic designer and his jaw dropped when he saw this. I feel like I'll end up using it as a color reference as well! No more using colorful bindings from our book collection as color chips.
Older kids may enjoy the charts in Wikipedia's color entries.
miami's elaine ... could you give us a link for the Wikipedia color charts? i would like to look and can't find them
It's not arranged as prettily but, in Wikipedia's "shades of red" (or another color) entry, there's a chart list containing many different named reds. Better yet, search "list of colors."
My husband and I are both designers so we'll probably love this book more than our toddler. Thanks for sharing!
The book's cover alone is beautiful enough to frame.
