After a recent discussion with a friend about using Honeysuckle (Pantone's official Color of 2011) as an accent color in an otherwise minimal/masculine interior, I decided to go back through the archives and pick up some inspiration on how House Tour participants have been using this shade of pink all along.
I love the color most as an accent countered with plenty of neutrals. I also noticed that throughout the House Tours, the color was most successful used in small doses — repainting a piece of furniture, painting an accent wall, used as a pillow, a peek of it in some bedding, wrapped around books in a bookshelf. It adds just the right amount of color without becoming overpowering.

Nomade Express Slee...
I know that there's quite a bit of disagreement with this colour but I don't mind it in small doses. I especially like it against a dark grey background. I think it toughens the colour up a bit. The chair in Heather's home and the couch in Philip and Leong's space is gorgeous.
I adore pilgrim's chair and side table & Julie's cozy condo. None really look masculine though.
Sigh.... it makes me love pink even more. And I am hoping I am able to find more pink throw pillows. Anyone spot any cool ones around in the usual haunts?
Miss Julie's lovely place is pure perfection. So charming, so her!
Call me pedantic, but I can't understand why this color has this name. Are honeysuckles this color anywhere? I've never seen it.
I'm searching for floral fabric that has this color, some turquoise, and greens/yellows browns. Any recommendations?
Pepto bismol. Bleh. Good in small doses only!
"Stop trying to make fetch happen."
I dunno - seems like watered down fuschia - almost dusty rose. I don't think they got it this time.
I actually like it, but I'm not sure I like paying attention to a paint company's efforts to start a color fad.
i have no problem with "honeysuckle" but it seems to me that a number of these roundups are just varying shades of pink and not the pantone shade. pics 6, 8 and 10 are lighter shades of pink.
Four looks like a red room. :/
@Barefoot: there are coral honeysuckles in this shade. They are uncommon. I agree on the color name. "Honeysuckle" should be a shade of yellow.
I was thinking the same thing as Lady J.
I love pink in all its shades and love all the attention honeysuckle is getting! I don't remember turquoise or yellow getting this much play the past two years.
@Barefoot: Some honeysuckles are be a bright pink color, but they are uncommon. Various shades of yellow and white are the rule with Lonicera sp. "Azalea" would perhaps be a more appropriate name, though truth be told this color doesn't occur all that often in nature.
