Although I might bust out a few decorations for larger holidays, the smaller ones always feel a little silly when you're talking about living with less in your home. But that doesn't mean a few items hiding in the back of your closet or pantry can't be pulled together for St. Patrick's Day!

Over at Two Twenty One, buying new big hurricanes to decorate with is out of the question. Having these three cylindrical vases on hand and a few candlesticks, simple hurricane style containers were created. To complete the look a common pantry staple was added — split peas!

As long as the candle you're using is clean burning, you could easily reuse the peas for actual consumption after the project was over. It's a great way to add a little green and celebrate without purchasing any cheesy leprechaun decor from the store. Check out the full tutorial here and don't forget to dig in the back of your closets and pantries for old glassware to use in the project.
