We love this take on a DIY mobile for a baby's room. It's simple, inexpensive, and makes a statement without overpowering the room.
Jessica Flannigan, who blogs at Live the Fancy Life, created this piece for her son's room. While it's not a mobile proper, Jessica designed it so that it is visually interesting from all different angles. She suggests hanging the lanterns one by one so that you can control the look and shape of the piece.
For more information on how this mobile came together, check out Jessica's site.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I love the look of this. But do you think becomes a dust trap. I worry because I have really high ceilings...
for as little time that you have a nursery room decorated for baby i doubt that it would be a major issue. hitting it with a vac hose every few months or even a swiffer duster wouldnt make it an issue.
Maybe it's just my husband's terrible DIY skills, but all I can picture is the star falling and hitting my baby-sharp end first. OUCH. And as long as it doesn't skewer anyone, it's actually really cute! :)
LOVE. The whole room looks incredible.
Love the mobile and the bright colors/grey walls combo. Not yet brave enought to try grey walls at my place so I'll have to droll over this for now!
Hi! I love the clusters and would like to do it for my baby's room. Can you tell me where to get the materials and how many hooks are needed? Thanks!
