Check out this cute and colorful Paper Pot — a winner of a 2008 Japan Good Design Award. It's a modern storage vessel for either tissues or toilet paper and an updated look to the traditional "tissue box cover." This design helps keeps paper dry in a steamy bathroom (a major failure of the alluring but impractical Toro Tissue Ring) and is available in 5 mix-and-match colors...
Though sold individually, different colors can be combined for a custom look. Paper Pot is available in 5 colors (pink, green, blue, white and matte black) from Molla Space for $27.

I like, and it would stop the over/under debate :) Kinda pricey though.
You would have to have a good place to set it down on or too many people would be handling the pot trying to get to the paper before proper hand washing. It would have to be right next to the toilette in an easy access manner.
(Good grief....that sounded like my mother wrote it...lol.)
Very adorable, but I would only use it for tissues -- definitely not toilet paper.
Love it! But, have to say, I'll have to just admire it at that price for what it is. Great design and definitely worth it, just not justifiable in my budget at this point.
I kind of love it. If it's to me used for toilet paper, it just needs to be a place that you don't already have a toilet paper holder, or you render one or the other redundant. Personally, I've gotten to where I like circles and spheres, in general a lot, because they just make me smile for some reason.
i think i finally found a solution that will enable me to leave the toilet paper out without sacrificing it to the kitty. yahoo!
Pricey at $38. Love the design though. I would use tp in it, but use it as a kleenex box. Some people would cringe at the idea... but, it's not like I'm using old tp!
I wonder if you could make something like this yourself out of clay.
Great design...and I love how it looks. Seems a bit pricey for the intended use though.
cool!
Going to get one RIGHT NOW! No more digging through the tissue boxes at the store trying to find the ones that aren't printed with something hideous.
nice.. especially for those who suffer from those ugly tissue boxes scattered around the house due to having constant allergies. double whammy. id buy it if werent so costly. hiding places, like under the couch and on top of the fridge, have done me well.
make that $38 plus $10 shipping. Hello $50 to store tissue? too much. and since I was just reminded this morning of what it's like to have paid double for something cool and new that's now selling for less than half price now that it's not cool and new, I think it's getting filed away in my "cool stuff" bookmarks bin.
am i the only one thinking that its not really sanitary to be having your hands all over the tp/tissues in order to "load" the contraption?
other than that, super cute.
If anyone comes up with a cheaper DIY solution, I would love to hear it. My parents' two kittens are shredding the TP at an alarming rate, and my mom has taken to just putting the tattered roll back on the all for use because it is too expensive to keep replacing. Nothing says "welcome to our home" like using shards of TP.
I think it's kind of ingenious, but it would only work in certain bathrooms. My Toto toilet tank isn't wide enough or flat enough to store soemthing like this (it's ok, I have wall hung tp holders) and the vanity is small enough that it would get pretty crowded. (I suppose you COULD put it on the floor...)
i have something similar i bought from sanrio (yes, it has hello kitty on it) about 4 years ago for about $8. i use it as a tissue holder in my car. it's really not that ingenious, if you think about it. basically a container with a removable top with a hole it in. if you use it for toilet paper, you actually need to remove the cardboard core and pull the paper out from the inner part of the roll.. pulling it from the outer part will get you nothing, or maybe 1 square at a time.
modkitten: yes.
wash your hands, and then consider having your germophobia looked at.
seriously. do you think tp or tissue is sterile, or what?
I have been looking for a nicer way to store tissues! This is perfect.
I L.O.V.E. my Toro Tissue Ring!
