The chair was conceived by Hungarian product designer Géza Csire, who needed a way to hide a spare mattress and make room for seating in his small apartment at the same time.
He came up with a prototype for a simple system that includes a mattress, changeable cover, and cylindrical drum. The drum forms the base of the seat and hides the sheets when Paq is in chair mode. When the whole package is disassembled, the drum becomes a nightstand. Clever!

Shaw's Original Fir...
best part of this is that the logo flips upside down from paq to bed. Other than that, I don't know that this is all that cool of a chair- and probably not that comfy of a bed. I guess for a transient bum, it may work- but even then, not sure.....
Hmmm. Maybe I'm just NOT the target market for this.
Neat!
When the bed is a pallet on the floor, the floor is your nightstand.
Also, to be called an "armchair," shouldn't a chair have arms?
These folks should worry about shoes before they focus on chairs :-)
as a chair it looks like a belly button
I can see t his as the prefect addition to a dorm room or studio apartment where every inch counts, but you sometimes have a guest.
Hmm, this could actually be a great replacement for the hideous (hand-me-down) Elmo "armchair" in my son's room. Seems like a little kid could sit quite comfortably on there...though I'm not sure about an adult. We just bought an inflatable kids' bed for visiting cousins; this would have been a fun alternative.
Upon closer inspection, it looks like you could DIY this with one of the cheap foam mattresses from IKEA---needs a cover to encase it, with an extra zipper all the way around. Not that I want to attempt this (I once sewed my own futon cover from scratch...awful project)...but someone could. It doesn't look like a twin size mattress---it looks exactly like the IKEA Junior Bed size, which we have. Hmmm...
Amberm is correct that this is more sized for children --- in the last picture, with the three people, the two men are practically falling out of it. Even the woman, who is smaller, doesn't look like she has enough room to really be comfortable.
love it!
