As plants begin to die back and shadows get longer, keeping interest in the garden can be tricky. Playing with light and patterns can be a fun way to enliven a fall and winter scape and one of my favorite product to do that with is Parasoleil panels.

Uriah Bueller is the Boulder Colorado based artist behind the intricately cut copper panels at Parasoleil. As arbors and patio roofs, they cast beautiful shadows across outdoor dining tables. They can also be used as architectural screens —I personally love the idea of using them at the side of a front porch to screen and distract from a less attractive neighbor's plot, or just give a little privacy — fences, railings, and the company will even work with clients to create custom pieces like tables and benches.

There are a variety of standard patterns available or you can create your own. In the long light of fall and winter, it is nice to think about where the sun will be throughout the day and plan the screen pattern and placement for perfect shadow tossing.

There are a variety of materials used by the company, from corten steel to aluminum, but the signature garden product is made of 90+% recycled copper (which ages to a beautiful green patina) and carries a green certified designation.
