This shower was a jaw dropper. Mounted in a marble bowl/base, the highly polished chrome frame couldn't be more celebratory of the morning rinse. Detail below. This was on the Left Bank.
Up on top of the Pompidou Center we ran into Shiguru Ban's remarkable temporary office on our way to see Charlotte Perriand (on a reader tip). The office is built entirely out of carboard tubes and wood panels that are held together with tension wire. It is a perfect example of his work, which lives very lightly on the earth. Here's a pic at night.
This children's store had simple but colorful furniture. We particularly liked the bed whose structure held aloft a lovely Roman canopy. Left Bank.

Maxwell, I think there is a manufacturer who does modern repros of this shower, at least of the enclosure if not the water collector. If you're interested, I'll take a look @ the resource library.
Also, I have a photo of similar shower dated from my trip to Toronto, about 10 yrs ago, that I've seen in the cheesy unfinished Victorian castle they have, forgot the name. No scanner, so can't post the pic, but the general design is the same.
