We love kids' room that appear effortless, lived in and still beautiful. And we're always curious to peek inside the homes of interior designers. So we couldn't resist a visit to Cookie's Nesting blog to check out 4-year-old Parker's bedroom. She happens to be our neighbor and her mother happens to be the creative director of design firm Minor Details that specializes in spaces for children.

Parker's room is a perfect example that you don't have to buy high-end furniture or spend hours and hours scouring Parisian flea markets to put a great room together. Her mom mixed buys from inexpensive stores like Ikea and Urban Outfitters with used items from stoop sales and eBay. It's how she puts it all together (with help from Parker of course) that's magic. Tre magnifique!

I know those black wire crates are around, but I can't seem to think of a source for them. Where can I find those?
Great room. Looks like it could be perfect for a boy or girl.
Can anyone tell me what paint that is??
thanks so much for all the nice comments and the post carrie. i was happy to meet your little man on the stoop not to long ago! such a cutie.
trixiegirl - the pink birdcage is from Pearl River on Broadway in Manhattan.
sobagrey5 - the wire shelving is actually a set of 4 silver stacking modular storage cubes from Bed bath and Beyond that I spray painted black and reconfiguired. I too had trouble located the real thing so I had to make them myself! http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13652600
sleek - i believe that not only is the paint color important when choosing paint but so is the name! I went with Benjamin Moore's Purple Rain : #1386 in interior eggshell latex
cheers - jenn
I know Target also has the modular shelving in large amounts. They come disassembled in the Home Improvement section of stores. :o)
Beautiful room!! Can you tell me where you got that Brooklyn sign please.. Thank you so much!
