So, your child is joining the chess club this year but you want to be sure they get some outdoor playtime in between practicing the decidedly indoor game. Here's a fun and stylish solution:
Install a giant chess board outside! It doesn't have to be black and white. In fact, it can be made with squares of greenery (think grass or even ivy or thyme) and concrete pavers. Size it at 8x8 squares so it funcitons as a board when necessary. And when it's not being used for a game, it will make a really nice-looking patio!
