There is a charming restaurant in the West Village called La Focaccia that has the most beautiful patterned tile wall. Every time I see it I dream of redoing my kitchen like this.
Then again, tile is a pretty big commitment. Maybe the key is to go with a subtle and elegant pattern like the one in the 2nd photo. What do you think? Picture 5 is from a dollhouse but the concept is there. Would love to see that kitchen life size!

I like 3 and 4 the best... the smaller patterns seem too busy to me.
Some are beautiful solutions for kitchen remodels. The bolder versions have more limited use. www.sabineskitchen.com
I'm with you on this one in that I love the wall tile they chose for this restaurant! I would definitely consider adding this to the kitchen remodeling design I have already planned out in my head. It really makes it feel like home, and would be easy to clean. What designs and colors would go better with dark wood?
