Having just gone through the process of couch hunting, I can say it’s an overwhelming process. But one option that never dawned on me was choosing a patterned sofa.
Patterns work for all kinds of homes. If you’re the bright, cheerful David Hicks type, you can never have enough splash. And if you’re looking for something to make a statement in a minimal room, patterns may be the way to go.
Take a look at the inspiration board and let us know if you take your furniture patterned or plain.
And if you like the 3rd photo, it’s actually a painting by Holly Ferrell and available for $6,200 framed.

I don't have anything against patterned furniture in concept, but I never see them made with fabric that appeals to me. I doubt I'd ever buy one.
I like the plaid couch. Plaid goes with a lot of things, and the accessories can easily be changed.
Our last couch was boring, plain denim, but we covered the four large, matching loose back pillows as the mood struck us - everything from kitcshy Western prints, to 1960's tie dye, to retro/modern geometric prints depending on the mood and seasons. That was fun and changed the whole room. It's less drastic than a whole patterned couch since you can change it. You could also do a lot with a plaid or a geometric design if you picked carefully.
The new couch we have is much more tasteful, solid color and boring. I'm kind of sorry we didn't get a print or something brighter now. Too much good taste can be too much.
world market has some table linens like that blue sofa
I love the yellow sofa in the second pic!
I love the patchwork sofa. Sometimes bold colorful patterns are too much for me, but some of these are nice.

I love patterned sofas, but the fabrics I crave are almost always high-end (Scalamandre, etc.) I haven't found any really nice patterns in lower price ranges. So I stick with solid color sofas and use pillows and throws to make them less ZZzzzzzzzzz.
love the first and second sofas. loathe the patchwork and plaid options.

I bought a patterned floral sofa in 1990 and it is great for hiding hair and non-removable stains when you have a herd of cats, but because of it, I felt I had to get a non-patterned area rug which is not so great when you have a herd of cats.
Just goes to show that stuff can look good if you work to incorporate it. Except for the cow-patterned sofa, yuck!!! I'm couch hunting right now too and god it's horrible. I've found some cute patterned ones, though.
Hating the patchwork sofas - Too much like the slipcovered sofas in the early 90's using a dozen or so patterned fabrics...
...and 1970's Holly Hobbie granny-dresses.
I think the first picture is actually from the selby: http://www.theselby.com/8_04_08_krysten_ritter/index.html
the first two are sweet. the rest, not.
they really don't make them like they used to.
these have got to be among the ugliest couches i've ever seen!! I'm all for prints but in small doses as in throw pillows which are infinately more practical as they can be change out
when needed.
forget the sofas, i'm too busy being jealous about that william eggleston print in the first photo.
