Pattern for Renters: Stenciled Curtains

The beautiful stenciled kitchen in Liz & Joe's Cute & Crafty Coach House got a lot of attention yesterday. If you love the look but you're not quite ready to commit to a pattern on your walls, consider stenciled curtains!

Stenciling the walls in your home can be a great way to bring both color and pattern to a room. However, renters (and those who aren't quite ready to commit to stenciled ways) may be a bit skittish about committing to the project. An alternative stenciling your walls would be to stencil curtains.

Heather, over at the blog {twenty}something, stenciled sheer curtains for her dining room and, as you can see, having that little bit of pattern in the room makes a big impact. Similarly, I recently stenciled curtains to cover a closet door and found it to be a fabulous way to bring some pattern to my space.

To achieve an allover look with stenciled curtains, you could cover an entire wall. It may take a lot of fabric (depending on the size of the wall, of course) but using a stenciled curtain to cover the length of a wall would achieve a dramatic look and you'd be able to take your hard work with you if you move.
