Ever been to Montrose? Well you're missing out. Not only is it really not that far north of downtown LA, but it's like taking a field trip back in time. Honolulu, the main shopping street is lined with Jacarandas and small businesses that haven't changed for my lifetime. Pattyes Closet is one of them. It's full of stuff that has probably been there since the 40's, that's how authentic a thrift store it is.

The prices are authentic too. There are all kinds of bric a brac to wade through but I found these killer gold flower sconces, $20 for the pair. They've also got a ton of vintage dishes, ashtrays, paintings and mirrors. Sometimes they have larger pieces of vintage furniture that for the most part appears to be more victorian in style. But regardless of what you're in the market for, just the experience of being in Montrose is worth the trip. I can normally spend up to an hour just looking through the shop and then I can spend some time wandering the 2 blocks of cute that surround it.
Any chance anyone else has been there?
