Tempting, tempting. Pavilion is one of the antique shops in town that always seems to be full of inspired choices.
We can remember the first time we happened upon the shop. It was closed, yet we spent a looooong time peering in at all the goodies. It is owned by two graduates of the School of the Art Institute whose strong vision for the shop seems to bring a cohesive feel to the offerings.
The overall vibe of the store is modern and very chic. The focus is on European antiques and decorative arts, with a specialization in French, Italian and Scandanavian mid-century design.
Pavilion's site shows current pieces from the inventory, so if you are not familiar with the shop, it is a nice way to get a feel for what's in store.

pavilion, while having a beautiful selection of items very nicely displayed is the MOST expensive antique store i've been in within chicago city limits. it's a great place to go to get ideas for things you want, and then hunt for them elsewhere.
Pavilion is the best place in Chicago to get what you're looking for. Their prices are good, the owners are friendly and helpful, and the pieces they have are amazing. Definitely check it out while you're in Chicago and take your friends too!
In response to Jennifer's post: sounds like you should probably head to Ikea or to the flea markets. Pavilion carries top of the line, one of a kind artistic pieces. They write books about the artists and designers that make the things which Pavilion carries. There are plenty of other stores in Chicago that charge more than Pavilion does. And if you really want to see expensive, go to NYC or LA and see what they are charging there for the same type of things - it will be 2 to 3 X as much as Pavilion. Pavilion is a bargain for the types of items that they carry.
