Nomade Express Slee...
These are everywhere in Montana (and for much less as well), and every one of my family members there have blankets like these. Maybe that's why they're a turnoff for me ;)
I didn't think these were ever out of style to begin with. Vintage Hudson Bay blankets are fantastic.
I associate UO with not-so-great quality, so the fact that they are going to offer these classic blankets brings them down a notch in my mind. I have a couple of the Pendleton camp blankets which I love, but the fact that UO is selling them is a turn-off.
Pendleton textiles aren't printed - the designs are woven in.
This is why the front pattern is colored differently from the back, why the colors & patterns last so long, and one reason they are more expensive than cheaper printed textiles.
Pendleton makes both classic woven-in patterns ($$$) and printed blanket - I visited their factory last year. My mothers 50-yr-old Hudson Bay are of much higher quality than the classic striped ones I bought at Hudson Bay about 15 years ago. But the all wool blankets really are amazing.
For any of you traveling through Pendleton, OR - the factory is an interesting stop. Not much I'd want in my house, but some of it is superb.
I think they were always out of style!! These remind me of watching movies in a musty basement curled up on a ratty sofa with a dalmation. I will definitely not be taking part in this "trend".
This is a classic look that never goes out of style. It just has not been "trendy" for awhile. But designer Nick Olsen recently proclaimed vintage Navaho rugs to be "in" -- so maybe this will trend again?

Fun article, by the way.
I too associate UO with cheap products, but if you look at the link, these are actual Pendleton products, not knock-offs. A blanket runs $198, which is comparable to prices on the Pendleton website. Maybe they are woven, rather than printed? The UO photos look nice. Maybe UO is stepping up its game?
But, I'll be sad if this look becomes the Next Big Trend. For me, that drains that just drains the life from everything it touches.
I love my hudson bay blanket, too! Those things never go out of style...
I think it's funny that UO is trying to sell knock-off Hudson's Bay Point Blankets. But hey, trends are trends, right?
Striped wool blankets hold two places in my memory: warm nights at the cabin, and sick days in the school nurse's office. The navajo styled ones just remind me of the early 90's, and I'm not sure I need that reminder.
I agree with some people posting here, I think Pendleton Blankets aren't trendy, but classic. There just having a good year, like Vampires are. I think we will be seeing many deriviatives of this pattern soon.
darcitananda I agree too- http://houseleparti.blogspot.com/2010/02/native-american-patterns.html

I hate that UO do not have these blankets avaiable in Europe... why only in the US... shame on you UO...
correct, as stated above, these are not a printed lesser quality pendleton product, not sure why that press was started. the pendleton product is in-line and offered on pendleton's website and in stores. uo just simply picked up some of their product line as a response to its trending right now. the pendleton jacquard fabrics have been made for over 100 years now and are simply classic native inspired designs.
