We happen to love cleverness and humor over here at the Family channel. One of my favorite trends are all the periodic tables that have been cropping up. Some of them are, obviously, not family friendly, like the Periodic Table of Beers or Profanity. But some are so cute and clever we think they'd make some pretty fun art for a child's room. We rounded up a selection of periodic table wall art that could decorate a child's room.
• Periodic Table of Typefaces at Scribble on Everything: For the typophile and those hoping to raise typophiles, these wall decals by Cam Wilde "list 100 of the most popular, influential and notorious typefaces today."
• Periodic Table at Land of Nod: Even Land of Nod is getting in on the action with this traditional periodic table of the elements, and their witty note, "(Periodic Chairs not included)."
• THINK Periodic Table Wall Art from Inspirations by Amelia on Etsy: These wall decals spell out "Think," which is kind of perfect in their periodic table style. Also available from this shop are "Fun," "Nap," and "Chocolate."
• Gummy Bear Periodic Table from Kevin Van Aelst: Gummy bears in a periodic table. So, it has no educational value. It's gummy bears!
• Periodic Table of Super Powers at Comics Alliance: For the superhero themed room, you can now learn how to write out your favorite heroes in a chemical/power formula. For example, Superman is OAFSISpVxVhSn.
• Periodic Table 4 Letter Name set at Shannon Zelli on Etsy: Another Etsy seller who has made good use of the periodic table trope, Shannon Zelli offers packs of letters so you can spell out your child's name. She even made up ones for J, Q, and W.
• Periodic Table of Video Game Characters from I Heat Chaos on Red Bubble: For the budding gamer, this chart uses images of famous video game characters to create a visual table.

Can anybody tell me about that couch in the "Think" image?
I love the idea behing the Periodic Table of Typefaces! I might have to make something like that for my home office.
periodic tables are from hell. try being the daughter of a science professional and being forced to memorize the damn thing when 11 yrs old, amongst other science craziness!
please don't scar your children! lol
Great! For a teenager's room, this one would be perfect (and its my fav). The periodic table of heavy metals.
Nah. I don't think it's visually interesting -- MAYBE the gummy bears are a little bit. Maybe. They're also delicious.
Well. This isn't really kid art (unless you are an 11 year old with a passion for Chemistry). Why don't we admit that this is "Grownup Geek Home Office Wall Art"?
I love the ThinkGeek T-Shirts: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-apparel/unisex/sciencemath/ea07/
Yeah Mr. White! Yeah science!
Yeah, this would work better for teenagers. The wit doesn't register unless you're already familiar with the real periodic table. Looks like another case of parents projecting too hard.
I don't think a kid would get the Periodic Table of Typefaces, let alone periodic tables. Teenagers maybe, but definitely not kids. Unless your parents are serious design snobs.

I find the "faux periodic tables as design element" intellectually offensive when they do not use the correct element symbols in the correct locations. There are some well done versions, though, such as the "periodic table of the desserts," which does use correct symbols and locations and has lovely art (Halfnium (Hf) is a hot fudge sundae, for example).
