Name: Peter
Location: Washington DC NW
My home is a classic 1922 DC Wardman. Deceiving from the outside, its anything but old school when you come inside. This is part because it was gutted and refitted with new conventions (HVAC, finished basement, new walls) and part because of our love of eclectic and mid century — our interior usually surprises people.
I am a big lover of all things Eames and have had the good fortune to meet their living relatives: his only child Lucia and all of her brood and grandkids. I try to incorporate that love and my love for kindergarten art (mine and my neice's and nephew's) into the space.
Thanks Peter!

What is the green color in the bedroom? Great bedrooms!
Lovely home but my favorite "decoration" is that sweet, little gray face peeking out from the pillows in the last picture.
Love the gray/orange combo. Could you please share the silvery gray color used in the living room?
Where did you get the MOMA poster?
The color is so well done. The orange accent walls are wonderful. Can you make any recommendations about using complementary colors like this on the walls in the same room? I am thinking about warming our living room up in the same way. Also, please do share that name for the beautiful gray paint!
Yes! Please share the gray color in the living room!
I believe the MOMA poster is from betterwall.com
I really like the chalkboard headboard--though it seems like it could get a little messy--it looks good. And the cute puppuh in the last picture!
As someone else with some (jack o' lantern) orange walls, I approve of this paint scheme.
Is that a gas fireplace insert? We have a Wardman too and I've often considered looking into that option for our fireplace.
schweet pad. Could you please tell us how you got that Ork poster framed? I've been trying to get mine framed for a while but very few places sell 22 x 27 size.
Very nice! Love all of it, and I love the idea of the blackboard headboard, but I worry about the practicality of it. I'm afraid I would spend all night sneezing! How do you keep down on dust? Great job on the colors, and I love the arrangement on the wall at the base of the stairs.
I know there's often objection to commenting solely on the pets in a house tour, but: Best part = puppy face in the last picture! :)
love the color choices...but i'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest paring down your stuff. there is a lot going on visually here and my eye hardly knows where to look.
i'd be interested to know about the fireplace, too. have been looking at wardmans lately as a potential buyer. i like them a lot - but so many of them are lacking a fireplace (whether authentic wardman or not, i dunno). am not sure what the options are for installing a fireplace into that type of home.
Scoot - i have one of the ork dc posters, too, and just ordered a custom frame from americanframe.com fairly reasonable prices on custom framing.
I love that orange bomb(?) is it a bomb? rocket? whatever...I love it! great home with lots of fun interesting visual elements. thanks for sharing!
Love the sofa! Any sources for one like that?
Nice space, in particular you did a great job of snatching up all the furniture everyone else has on this website.
Gotta love a home that uses such bold colors! Especially love the green and orange colors used. That doggie hiding behind the pillow made my day! What a cutie! Lucky pooch to be living in such a nice home.
Very nice - what kind of sofa is that? It's a good size for the room.
Love the MOMA poster. As a lover of skateboarding, ball bearings are integral to life.
Great taste, love your ideas. Especially the chalk board in the bedroom. My kitchen is due for face lift. Maybe I should consider a chalk board wall?
Did I imagine that I saw a little grey snout sticking out from behind a pillow in the bedroom???
Thanks all for your comments. I really enjoyed this experience and am happy to answer the questions you have posted:
1--Green Color in guest bedroom---I was grocery shopping at Giant and bought a granny smith apple that inspired me. Took the apple to HomeDepot across the lot and had them color match the peel at the color shade I most liked. It is Behr, flat
2--It warms my heart that everyone loved our dogs. Sofie is the oldest and can be seen trotting out of the kitchen. Georgie Girl (AKA George) is the one peeking out of the pillow on the bed. Our baby---WEEZY---was camera shy on this day. She is adorable too!
3--The grey color on the main floor is Ralph Lauren SOHO loft. The orange is Chinese Mandarin
4--The MOMA banner is in fact an original from betterwall.com. They have great stuff
5-- I understand the concern over the chalkboard headboard in the guest room/reading room. You will notice, however, that most of the information written on it are TV channel listings which does not change. This is for the ease of guests who want a quick reference to their favorite channel and I liked the busy rolling ticker tape feel of it.
I don't write on it regularly so the dust is not a problem
6-- Yes, the fireplace is a ventless gas insert
7--The ORK poster is framed in an "off the rack" IKEA frame. I had to cut about an inch off to make it work but the price was right. It killed me to alter the print but I am recently laid off and have to pinch my pennies
8---Yes the orange/red/blue bomb is a harmless bomb shell from World War II (at least that's what they told me when I bought it 10 years ago--Millenium on U Street). I call it the love bomb. It used to be in my front yard but on September 15, 2001, I received a visit from the DC cops and secret service about it. No fibbing
9--The sofa is from Crate&Barrel. I think its called the Rochester
Thanks for your feedback and write if you want more. I am sorry the post didn't include my dining room, office and backyard. I would have loved your opinions on those spaces too
Peace and Best wishes
Peter
