Philadelphia Students Build App for Safer Walk to School

For kids in urban areas, walking to school can be risky. 15 students at Philadelphia's Academy at Palumbo created an algorithm that predicts the safest routes to and from school. The team won the national Samsung Solve for Tomorrow award in March. They are hoping to work with University of Pennsylvania masters students in urban planning and engineering to make their app a reality.
