$6895 is what it is going to cost for the next generation of Philips ambilight flat screen televisions. Is it worth it? While the original ambilight is subtle, the Aurea takes a much more noticeable approach by illuminating the enire frame rather than just the edges. My first thought is that this has crossed the line from enhancing the visual experience to actually detracting from it.

Guess we will have to see what it is like in person. At least Philips has gone with a combination of 26 tiny speakers as opposed to larger ones, keeping the look of the frame nice and clean. Should be available sometime in September.
