Q: I had a great idea for an app, and I hope it already exists...or that someone will read this and create one! Maybe your readers can tell me if they know of anything like this. It's part Facebook, part Blurb & part journal.

I would love to have an app where I could upload a photo and add a one-liner description. Then, at the end of the year, I could have it printed out as a little book:
I have a book with a similar concept called "Mom's One Line a Day," which I love. But the problem is that by the time I get around to pulling it out, I forget so many of my funny/enraging/dramatic/quotable moments throughout the day.
Any ideas if something like this exists?
The photos shown here would be my entries for the past 3 days. Here are the captions I would include in my hypothetical photo diary book for each of these images: 1) Pinterest Copy Fail. 2) Katie Belle's methods for packing up her room. 3) Ethan reading books to his sisters.

Editor: Carrie, What first comes to mind for me is an existing app called Instagram. It allows a one-line caption and puts a nifty filter on your pics. However, I'm unsure of whether it's easily translated to a printed book. Anyone? Leave your suggestions for Carrie in the comments - thanks!

i don't use instagram since they don't have an ipad app. but if it does allow you to add a line etc, then you could use blurb to make yourself an instagram book.

or make a facebook photo album and every day just take a photo, upload to that album, and write a caption.
then once again blurb makes it pretty easy to make a book

It's not a book but you can use this service to print out cards and quotes: us.moo.com
OMG. If you use Blurb Bookify it will link you directly to your Instagram pics!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just discovered this magic. It may also work with Blurb's other tools.
I second the use of instagram. You can make your photos private, and blurb is so super-easy (and really good quality!).
I was looking for the same thing and I found Momento...it's a great iphone app. It even pulls your status updates on FB. Check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.momentoapp.com/
Thanks friends! The posterity app looks great, but I'm really looking for something that translates easily into book format. Same thing for Momento. I can't tell if you can publish it as a book. I used Blurb when it first came out, and loved it, but it required a good bit of time.
What I'm looking for is something that I can write a little snapshot each day (I'm talking 1 minute tops), and then at the end of the year, hit "Publish" or something Super-Easy to turn it into a book format. I don't want to have to do tons of formatting....because it will never, ever get done.
I might take a look at the Instagram/Blurb option. Does it require much in the way of formatting/uploading?
Is Blurb Bookify an app, or is it just a website that integrates with instagram?
I would try Shutterfly.
I have been using 365project.org to store my 365 photos, but after discovering (thanks to this post) that blurb has an "import from facebook" feature, I think I might just create a "365" album on facebook, post the pictures and comments there, then automatically (and super-easily) create a book out of that album at the end of the year! Thanks for the question!
The only issue with creating an app like this is that you'd have to link it into a book publisher and then get very specific publishing guidelines from them to make it work. As well, you'd have to get the app to do all the cropping and photo editing too. And you'd also have to design the app with a number of different book layouts to suit everyone's different tastes. I don't think an app exists like this because, well, there's no need or demand for it. It's a very specific and most likely very small market for this. Besides, just as everyone is stating, Instagram and other photo apps takes great pics and you can then upload them to another source to be printed or published. Blurb will do up the book for you once your photos are selected. It's not a bad idea to document your children, it's just that an app or even service to do this wouldn't make very much money from it (if any at all) because of the low demand, sorry.
I'm using kidmondo.com, which is a baby book that you can also print.
I also use 280daily.com (a journal with 280 characters a day plus a photo).
