I fell in love with these porcelain bowls for morning coffee a long time ago at cafe near my house. I bought a bunch and they've not only lasted forever (they're tough as hell), but we also now use them for serving all sorts of things (ice cream, mostly :-)).

These are the really good versions. Made by Pillivuyt in France. Here's the scoop from Martha:

In the heart of France, Pillivuyt (pronounced "Pilly-VWHEAT") has been a symbol of high quality since 1818. Founded by Charles Pillivuyt in the Berry region, an area renowned for exquisite porcelain and Sancerre wine, Pillivuyt has provided dinnerware for such exclusive clientele as the royal courts of the Netherlands and Egypt. Recognized worldwide, it maintains a tradition of excellence and is still one of the only porcelain manufacturers to create its own base.
