Beginning on Monday, May 24, 300 bloggers (many of our favorites) will participate in a unique online event called Pin It Forward. Creating inspirational pinboards around the theme "What Home Means To Us," ten bloggers per day will share their interpretation of this theme. Read more about the event and what, exactly, a pinboard is after the jump.
Pinterest is a new, free online service created "to share collections of things you love." As a user, you "pin" images of things that you come across on the internet that interest you to one of your pinboards. These images can be interior design, fashion, art, food, music related--anything that you love! Your pinboards will grow as you pin more images, and they are shared with a community of other Pinterest users.
One of the most notable users is Victoria, from one of our favorite blogs, SFGirlByBay. She is also co-hosting the Pin It Forward event, which will share pinboards created by 300 bloggers around the central theme of "Home." Every day for thirty days, ten bloggers will describe their pinboard and introduce the next blogger. Effectively, this will be a month-long tour of inspiring images collected by a wide array of creatively oriented bloggers. We love this idea!
We're excited to see the undoubtedly imaginative collages of images from some of these folks. We're also hoping to discover some new blogs to follow...

That's awesome! Count me in...!
I will definitely begin by pinning apartment therapy..!
I was so excited about this, and all ready to sign up until I read in the fine print that you have to have a Facebook account to join pinterest and participate in pin it forward. Not everyone has or wants a damn facebook account!
Thanks so much for writing about pin-it-forward!. We're super excited to be hosting it with sfgirlbybay!
@redjet - Thanks for the feedback. We just use Facebook connect to help you find people you know on the site and speed up registration. So far, most of the feedback we've received has been positive - people enjoy sharing pins with people they care about.
We're keeping a close eye on it and we might add other ways to sign up later.

redjet - it's true, FB is just the means to a great end. i don't think anyone who's tried Pinterest yet has had any troubles with Facebook. but we hear you, and as Ben said, they're working on that. and, you don't have to make your Facebook account public to participate. :)
we hope you'll follow along! so far, everyone, including myself, is quite addicted to Pinterest, and it's been an awesome tool for bookmarking for blogging!

sadness... list is full. Keep us posted sounds like fun!!
@ydeluon73 Sorry about that, but if you add yourself to the waiting list at www.pinterest.com, I'll make sure you get "expedited review". :)
Also, I should add that the Pin-It-Forward badge (above) was made by the very-talented Steven McGaughey. You can check out more of his work here.
Hi Ben/Victoria,
I'm sure pinterest is a lot of fun, and I'd like to participate, but would like to just sign up with an email address. I'll check back to see if the registration changes, as I'm going to remain FB free. Thanks for the responses!
I am LOVING Pin It Forward! Congrats to Pinterest and sfgirlbybay for putting this together. Also, Pinterest is a ridiculously awesome site.
