Nite saw our recent how-to post on creating a pixelated painting and it inspired an email to us with some photos of an amazing bit of DIY artwork that he made from paint chips...
He says: This is a mosaic I did using those Benjamin Moore paint chips you can get from hardware stores. After a lot of time, patience, photoshop, and numerous trips to ACE hardware, I was finally able to finish.
Totally clever, budget friendly and wonderfully exectued!
Thanks for the inspiration, Nite.

Love, love this idea! Any chance to get a copy of your M.Monroe paint chip arrangement in order to duplicate it?? It truly is a piece of art and it would be awesome on my brown bedroom wall! (I totally understand if you don't want to share it too.....!) Thank you.
You may find this useful for creating mosaic art. We created this to remove some of the complexity from mosaic wall art. It's not perfect, but someone might find it useful.
very cool! I was just recently trying to come up with a new mosiac material that would be more lightweight than tile. Now I have it! And the perfect way to reuse the thousands of paint samples I have stuffed in a drawer!
To tradnairb : Thank you for the link to heavy mural! I will try it! Looks very promising.
A little late to the party, but here's my 2 cents -- my paint store guy kind of growled at me when I appeared for the millionth time and loaded up on paint chips. Turns out the shop owner has to pay for those from the manufacturer -- they're not really free.
This is lovely. Heres a link to a project I did using left over mini paint sample tins, to make a large mosaic of my son.
