This is one of those genius decorating ideas that leaves us saying "why didn't we think of that!" Using the IKEA SNÅR placemat (that goes for $1.99) Cynthia simply hangs hers on the wall using a clear push pin--and voila, a simple but inspiring jewelry display.
We like the texture that the placemat creates against the wall and are loving the white and cream color combo. This idea would also work well with a bright colored wall as its backdrop making the placemat pop. A great solution for small spaces where horizontal surfaces are scarce--the table mat can take the place of art while pulling double duty as your jewelry display.

Ew. This looks like a 'dream catcher'
tres cool.
I like. A lot.
I'm don't like it for hanging jewelry, but maybe a bunch in complementary colors, grouped together could make a cool piece of art?
I miss jewelry boxes. Closed ones.
very smart.
But why do you want to display jewelry? If you have really valuable stuff, aren't you just tempting fate? I think the top dresser drawer works well, as does a closed jewelry box. This looks like the chains would get enmeshed in the lattice work, and I know I'd be using a pair of scissors at some point.
I actually love it! Why wouldn't you want to display jewelry? Isn't that what you do when you wear it? I've been trying to figure out a way to organize my jewelry in a hanging way. I have a lot of long necklaces and dangle earrings, that get tangled etc if they're laid down. Great idea!
I like this because I have so many delicate pieces that tangle so easily and this would save me countless hours of untangling the disaster that is my jewellery box.
great idea! sadly, this would be a cat disaster in my home.
Myfogrs--I always thought jewelry was to adorn the person--a way of calling attention to a beautiful ear, a delicate wrist, the turn of a long neck, not to display the necklace, etc. Most pieces look better on a person, than they do hanging on a wall.
lololololol AWESOME! if you place a halogen light on it, it'll sparkle like crazy, making it even more beautiful.
Paint it a different color at least...it just looks bland. :)
Like Shirley and her "temple of doom" said, it looks like a dreamcatcher. Which stinks 'cause those use to be really neat until they became commercialized.
I love this. I have tons of really long necklaces and they would overwhelm something like this, but for delicate and moderate pieces it's perfect.
I have my necklaces hanging from small white hooks that I just stuck randomly on the wall behind my bedroom door. Done out of necessity as they were getting all tangled in my too-small jewelry box and I didn't want a jewelry armoire (and all dresser drawers are spoken for). I like it because it makes it easy to pick one in the morning and easy to actually put them back in the evening. And when I had a party, I received many compliments on it during the house tours!
Not crazy at all!!! Great Idea... very cool....
