Before he created Plane, iconic designer Ole Søndergaard wrote this in his journal: "Above me, in the distance can be heard the sound of the engine of a little sports plane. It is summer and the air is completely still. With an almost childlike joy I can permanently forget both time and place and soar up in to the wide blue yonder." This, to us, is the spirit of Escapes Month.

There's something inherently pleasing about these graceful stylized planes. We can imagine their heft in our hands as we moved them through the air, imagining that they're transporting passengers through clouds and over mountains. In our opinion, this is craftsmanship at its best: when a toy evokes the imagination at all ages, and then, when not in play, serves as a beautiful and inspiring object.

Plane comes in three sizes and styles, starting at $45, at Velocity Art and Design.
