Egglings may be a great first step in teaching your child about growing their own food.
Shaped like a large chicken's egg (and roughly the same size), you crack an Eggling open, plant the seeds provided, water, then watch as your herbs and flowers grow.
Available in a variety of types, including basil, mint, and thyme, Egglings are compact enough to sit on a bookshelf or windowsill, provided there's some sunlight around.
We think that most children would enjoy the excitement of seeing the first sprouts poke through the dirt, then clipping the leaves to use in their dinner.

awesomeness. but its even awesomer to re-use something in your house to grow a plant like a coffee cup. just sayin.
