Planters are so hard to find. Thanks for these suggestions. I'm trying to create a coordinate set of vintage planters for my study and it's been hard work!
Any suggestions for reasonably priced trough-like planters (longer and rectangular)? I'm looking for something longer than the Ikea ones from the under $20 posting.
the spun aluminum pots (#1) are NOT under $50... the stand is ($48), but a pot and stand combo is $164 PLUS the cost of the stand... so, $212 for the low-stand planter (or $174 for the stand-less model).
I am an avid indoor gardener. I won't pay more than $20-25 for a pot or planter, and I use a lot of biggish ones, maybe 12-14 inches in diameter. I have had LOTS of luck finding inexpensive glazed pots and planters in the outdoor section of stores like Home Depot, and also here in Canada, at Canadian Tire. In most stores, I notice a serious price difference between the indoor selection and the outdoor selection, and the outdoor ones are sometimes a little rougher in texture, but they can still be quite lovely. Also check out thrift stores - sometimes they have a section outside with tons of second-hand garden pots, often for only a few dollars.
I've been looking for a planter and a stand, but I hate how expensive they are. Theoretically, it seems to be easier and cheaper to have a little table that can act as a plant stand and just keep a planter on top.
i was super excited about the spun aluminum pots too, but yeah the stands are under $50, but the actual pots are like $150+ :( too bad the yellow one would have been perfect for my livingroom
These planters from Chiasso here and here and here are fantastic!
The smaller ones are $18 and the larger are $28. I have one of each and they are very well made and sturdy at a phenominal price.
Wouldn't it be possible to make a hanging planter from ikea's white kitchen containers? They can be hung from a hook or strung together, for less than $45.
I love plants, but the prices of these ..... sigh.
Hi All -- sorry about the confusion for the Aluminum Pods -- that was a fairly misleading product listing. Thanks to @Aprilaries for the tip -- those pots are very similar to the Aluminum Pods, but much less expensive. I've updated the post with these items.
I really like these Mason Jar Planters here http://www.bourbonandboots.com/store/products/mason-jar-herb-planters/
