Some of the newest products from the Ambiente show in Frankfurt, Germany are hitting the web and I'm fond of the Urban Garden collection from Authentics. Soft-sided planters and planter cozies are designed to sit on the floor, hang or sit in a special stand.
The Urban Garden planters are made from a coated polyester. Smaller bag-style planters are outfitted with clay granules for drainage and a water-level indicator. The larger models are designed to envelop an existing pot and secure around it with velcro fasteners and zippers.

very cool.
The bag-type plant containers are expensive -- more expensive that you'd think. I'm not sure how flat they'll sit on the ground -and they just look rather unfinished. Like a garbage can liner that needs to be taken to the curb. Maybe they should be called plant diapers?
I kind of like the wall ones, but to me, the floor ones look like the plant is in transport, like it's in a sack waiting to be planted somewhere.
Looks like they'd be a pretty easy DIY project, as long as you have a sewing machine that does o.k. with thick fabrics.
Off topic but I love the lines on the wall of the picture. I assume those are seam lines for the panels but what great way to make an otherwise blank wall looks interesting.
I'm not sure how I feel about these. I like the hanging ones, but I agree that the others look sloppy. Especially in the grey/black colour... it looks like that burlap stuff they wrap trees in at the nursery. I know this sounds very anti-innovation, but what ever happened to good ol' pots? There's so many colours, so many choices! Why mess with a good thing?
