Got a big surprise rounding the corner of South Portland and Lafayette in Fort Greene. A tent on the corner run by three ambitious women selling flowers and bouquets on the weekends...

Karen putting the finishing touches on a bouquet made to order.

Joicelyn, Karen & Kierna - last names Dingle, Adisson & Mayo, friends of over 20 years, grew up in the neighborhood and have always had the idea to start a flower shop together.

So now they get up early Saturday morning, go to the flower district and bring back a lush assortment of flowers to sell for the weekend. They had an assortment of cut orchids, craspedia, roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, lilies and those large philodendron leaves. It was a great selection, easy to choose from; the rich reds, yellows, oranges and whites all combine effortlessly.

If you are traveling through there on Saturday or Sunday to meet friends for a brunch, or visiting the Brooklyn Flea, a quick bouquet from their stand would be a perfect gift for a lucky host or hostess.

The summer stand is just the beginning and they plan to open a shop together - we wish them the best of luck! The stand is open most Saturdays and Sundays, but you can contact them through their website to check.
