If you live out in the country, and especially here in the Northeast, you will see all sorts of competitions to judge prize vegetables at the agricultural fairs in August and September.

Not so in the city - so it was good fun to see this photo in a recent issue of the NY Daily News.
Apollonia Castitlione lives and gardens out in Glendale, Queens, and is in 'shock' over this 6' and counting zucchini.

This is not only big enough to snag a regional prize (were there one), it is also on its way to winning a world record if it continues. We hope it survived Saturday's rain and wind!

The complete story is here.
