Through the front window at Designs by Ahn

I caught a flash of color from a tiny storefront on west 19th street in Chelsea the other week. It's an area full of construction (but what part of the city these days isn't??), and so this new storefront and inviting window display stood out like an Orbit Gum smile. It turns out it was a relatively new flower shop, Designs by Ahn, and has been open for only a few months...

Pumpkins and gourds are appearing all over town; it's a sign of the season. What I saw in their window was a fun mixture of traditional elements along with more exotic choices, making for a great display of color. Cherry branches were displayed in tall glass cylinder vases. Their deep reds looked right at home with the blue-green of the succulents. Down below were pumpkins mixed with bright peppers, a Cymbidium orchid, lotus pod, a bed of moss and a green Anthurium.

They had a very nice selection of unique vases and other accessories inside - and a quick look at their website revealed beautiful and bold arrangements with gorgeous curves and rich colors. Anyone looking for a bit of color inspiration will enjoy looking at their portfolio of work on their splash page. The bento box arrangement may be my favorite!
