This week's flowers are too big for my apartment - they are the very unusual sunflowers that you see here, with 6' stems. It was my first time to see them. Their enormous circumference told me that they could be nothing but sunflowers, but to my eye they looked like enormous pincushion mums. It is easy to see how these plush giants got the name 'Teddy Bear'...
We're sending a shout-out to all of you who bring home flowers to brighten up your home. Do YOU have some Sat. morning flowers to share? Let me know! You can drop a line with a small description and some pics at matt at apartment therapy dot com

Sunflowers are out everywhere right now, and the Met has been treated to sunflowers for the past few weeks in their Great Hall. Remco, the man who is responsible for the arrangements was passing by and told me they were 'Teddy Bear Sunflowers'. Ask any grown man to say those three words - it's adorable.
Last year we commented on their ability to rotate their heads with the sun, and were informed by verasue of their toxicity cleaning powers.
This year we witnessed one more of their powers at work. The clusters of seeds are a buffet for the birds. Later this weekend you'll see shots of one street's work to feed the birds and bees...
