Ovando always has fun window displays with a crowd around the front, much like the people watching puppies at the pet store windows. I seem to always have the luck of running by when they are closed and end up having to admire from the outside.

Succulents and cacti are in the windows at the moment, showing off their unique and unusual shapes. The store is due to rotate their window display this coming week, so by next weekend this will be gone.
Ovando often showcases unusual plants in their shop, and these are especially beautiful and dynamic. They appear like gesture drawings, stretching their limbs and ending in wild tufts of foliage. I almost expect Max to step around one of the trunks in his animal pyjamas.

I like those containers. They don't appear to sell them however.
Thanks, I love these. I know the succulents don't need much water, but should I still assume they line the bamboo containers to protect them from water damage?
Does anyone know where those containers can be purchased?
They did my wedding, unique and wonderful arrangements. If you call the store, they will tell you where you can buy the bamboo containers. www.ovandony.com
Please, someone call and post that info here!
I love both plants and containers!! They would be fabulous in my sun-drenched window.
Best window display on Bleeker St. (and changed frequently.) Fortunately, I pass by twice a day on my way to / from work.
Bleecker St., that is.
I did not get the name of the succulents, but the planters most likely can be found at:

or

I am really looking forward to what Ovando has in store for their next window!
Sorry - jsut remembered these places may or may not sell to the public. I think Jamali will, but Planter Resource may not. Their website says they have a $250 minimum wholesale order. But if you are in the neighborhood it is worth a look, as well as the neighboring shops.
These people at the Ovando can be really rude.
