Just a very cool cut flower. I love seeing what interesting things show up in New York's flower shops for bouquets. This was over at Sprout Home this past week (slideshow of my visit forthcoming).

Nigella is also known as Love-in-a-mist and Devil-in-a-bush, and I would love to know how those names came about. These photos are of what they look like right after the petals have fallen off. You can get an idea of what they look like with petals from Google.
The pods look as if they are surrounded by frozen lightning, and I'd love to contrast them with softer flowers like large white or slightly pink tinged poppies.
