Plasma TV Furniture by Lee Sinclair

Sometimes you don't want to adorn. Like with televisions: you'd rather they disappear unless they're in use. That's what Lee Sinclair is going for with this plasma screen furniture...

It's TV furniture with remote control lift housed in a custom made cabinet in maple and English walnut with cable management and DVD storage. With automatic flap action. We're aren't completely on board with the design yet, but it's a step in the right direction when you're searching for a way to hide the tube. (via Crib Candy.)

it's ugly. why do people want to pretend that they don't watch TV? it's so smug.

Didn't the guy featured in the Times article yesterday Living in Dust, make a similar, but nicer ( in my opinion) drawer for his plasma screen? It seemed to work better than this version.

Why do people assume that if you are hiding your t.v. then you are pretending you don't watch it?

If you park your car in a garage, are you pretending you don't drive? If you put your food in a cabinet, are you pretending you don't eat? Do you put your cloths away, or leave them out for all to see?

It may be aesthetics... it could be a feng shui thing. :)

I'm not a hard believer in feng shui, but I think there's a lot I take from it and keep in mind. Like it's a bad idea to have electronics or reflective surfaces in certain areas of the house.

In any case, I favour a nice armoire over this. It looks...um.. too complicated. Hehe.

I think that is a beautiful piece of furniture--without the housing for the plasma.

I love the concept, but I'm not crazy about the execution. This definitely looks like something out of a Levitz showroom in 1992.

Did anyone see the price? Ouch!
