Don't throw away plastic bags, throw away inside of plastic bags. This Plastic Bin, designed by Jieyu Design, is made of used plastic bags... posted originally from: AT:New York The plastic bin is made with many layers of plastic bags. By ironing them together, the thin plastic bags gains structural strength and am able to stand as a dustbin. In Singapore, plastic bags are used as carriers of products and then as trash bins hung at the back of doors. By giving the plastic bags more structural permanence, it's secondary function as a trashbag is reinforced. The ironing treatment is also a way of consolidation of plastic bags for future recycling.

Plastic bags are a reflection of the society that it is found in. This bin is made by plastic bags I brought over from Singapore to the Netherlands. The graphics on the bin can only be found in Singapore and by looking at them, one gets a hint of life in another country. A small silent battle against globalisation.
