Play kitchens are a popular holiday gift and usually they're "the big gift." And for good reason - they're not cheap and they take up space. But they're very often a favorite toy that kids return to again and again (sometimes daily), often for a few years. Here are twenty to consider:

Things to keep in mind:

• You're not going to find a brand new, quality, wood play kitchen for $20 - these are an investment toy. However there is still a range of price points to choose from.

• Most, if not all, of these require assembly so keep this in mind if you plan to present it on Christmas morning - unless you like being up all night Christmas eve!

Read the specs carefully to make sure it's going to fit in the space you have and that it's sized well for your child.

• Don't be held back if you find a kitchen you like but hate the color. Remember the play kitchen Kate bought at Target and transformed with paint and fabric?

Shop around for the best price. The prices and links below are one just one place you can find these kitchens and you may find a better deal elsewhere.

• Before spending a lot of money and time (assembly, see above!), see if your child enjoys playing with play kitchens by trying them out at friends houses or at their daycare/preschool.
