Now, this is a new place to display art. Check out this exhibition of drawings by Ajit Chauhan with Tara Foley. The work is shown on the gallery walls, as one might expect. But artwork is also placed underfoot, protected by a layer of plexiglass:
We like the fact that the artwork would almost completely surround the viewer in the space. And imagine everyone bending down to get a closer look at the drawings displayed on the floor. We're not sure how (or if) this translates to the home, but we thought the idea might inspire something really cool in someone's place.

I do love this and would love to interpret it for a home. But my husband and I keep our shoes off, and ask guests to de-shoe themselves, and *still* the floors get so dirty. It would be sad for that dirt to migrate into the plexi seams and ruin the art.
I was thinking the exact same thing Jenny B.... Would love to see it is holding up after 6 months.
Isn't the plexi going to get scratched all to hell? There's a restaurant in Beverly Hills, Crustacean, that had a little stream running through it, covered with plexiglass. Within a couple of months, it looked like frosted plexi.
This is a fun idea, but a horrible way to display such intimate detailed drawings. If patrons have to get down on their hands and knees to actually view the art, that's just a bad curating. If the art work were larger and ideally viewed from 5-6 feet, then I'd be more open to it.
I think this would work so much better if done on a wall, rather than the floor. The effect would be similar but without the awkwardness of walking on the plexiglass or having to look down like that. And the art would likely be better preserved.
