We love Lifehacker's readers for genius little tips like these: Have you ever reached to plug your cell phone in to charge in the middle of the night and had the power cord connector oriented the wrong way? It's hard to see those tiny pins in the dark...
But there's an easy way to always know which way is 'up' on your power cord. The solution is so simple, a second grader could do it.
Grab the cord and—in well-lit and sober conditions—plug your cell phone (or media player or whatever) in to the power cord (you might want to have it unplugged from the wall to be safe on this one). Take a tube of super glue (although we'd imagine hot glue or even the old school white stuff would work) and drop a tiny drop front-and-center on the face of the power cord.
From now on you'll have a visual and tactile reminder of which way your cell is supposed to plug in. And as Jon, the Lifehacker reader behind the project, says: It's unobtrusive, clean in appearance, and allows me to orient the plug the correct way every time. Who can argue with that?

Such a simple solution... yet I've never thought about doing that. Genious!
Alternatively, you can use whiteout or nail polish
or a small piece of tape.
Perfect, since my iPhone will let me plug the connector in either way, and it will click, and lock. Won't charge both ways though...
