Shaped just like a regular hard bound book, designer Dave Hakkens aimed to solve his hate for cable clutter with a solution that not only hides cables away from sight, but also provides two outlets to plug into, with a nifty with an automatic one-button cord rewind feature...
David Hakken's Plugbook just launched as a Kickstarter project in partnership with Dutch company, Designcord, (hat tip to Holly over at Decor8 for the heads up about the project), with plans for multiple colors to hide into your book collection. The $20 investment gets you one Plugbook, $10 cheaper than when it reaches final retail...not bad for such a stylish power solution.

I was hoping by reading this to find out a way to hide actual cable mess in a 'book' not have another plug in strip that I can 'hide' in a bookshelf. It only has two slots, and usb ports, so really it isn't any more convenient than another strip.
The only difference, is instead of on a floor, or in a drawer, we now 'hide' it in a bookcase.
I would much rather have a grouping of 2-3 or even 4 'books' that can sit on my desk in plain site but hiding the mess of usb, power, & other plugs that come out of the computer and monitors.
This is just another overpriced, book shaped outlet that can be put to use when someone needs one. Not for someone who uses their computer on a regular basis. I'll pass.
That's sort of my gripe with many of these gimmicky gadgets. Their mainly meant either for looks (cuteness, irony etc) or they're mean for part time usage such as in dorms or even by extension coffee shops.
There's very little that I see in the way of permanent full time solutions, but the good news is that it's easy to make your own. I usually attached a power strip to the back desk and anywhere that you have a drawer with a nearby outlet, you can drill a hole in the back and run your chargers into the drawer for hidden storage / charging. I do this in the bottom drawer of my nightstand for my phone and tablet.
The problem with most cable management is that it has to be DIY and has to be designed around the furniture and devices. it's completely doable though. I hate cables.
This thing is great!
I would use it just INSTEAD of a multiple socket/extensioncord. I would so much rather buy this one then an ugly cheap low quality multiple socket! No need for more sockets, just for a quick simple use it's more then enough.
I love it! In october I will have one, hopefully!
Not very smart, the cord is coming out of the bottom and to plug devices in you need to come from the side.
And now try to put it this way into the book shelf ...
