A while back we introduced you to Plumen, the world's first designer low energy lightbulb. These CFLs in interesting shapes have just become compatible with 110V electrical systems, meaning that they can finally be used in the United States.
The bulbs are expensive at $29.95 but last eight times longer than a traditional incandescent and are so great-looking that you'll want to keep them exposed in your interiors. They are also easy to use because they fit in standard lightbulb fittings and give off a warmer quality of light than other CFLs.
If you'd like to get a hold of Plumen for yourself, you can find ordering information at the Plumen website.

...
now i just have to get them to canada.
Where can I get the bright light cords like that to hang in my house?
$9.95 for shipping? If you're going to charge $30 for a light bulb the least you can do is throw in some free or cheap shipping. That's a shame. I had actually been waiting for this to come out.
@tktktk You can find those cords at Ikea.
@KrysJenee Thank you!
@jafaircl http://www.gnr8.biz/product_info.php?products_id=1301 has free shipping but not in stock get (i'm waiting......)
Yay...sort of. Love these, but I'm with jafaircl - I won't pay those shipping charges.
Eh, I moved on to LED light bulbs.
@BruinToo, ya hipster;) - perhaps you could share some sources for attractive LED options that would solve the "what to put in an exposed-bulb fixture?" problem as beautifully as these do? I'd definitely be interested in more options!
