This has been bothering me for a while. The links to the AT Classifieds only links to the main page for the city, and the titles in these posts do not necessarily match up with the titles in the Classifieds. So it is really annoying to try to figure out what is what, and usually I skip trying and move onto a craigslist link that goes right to the actual item.
It would be so much more user friendly to link to the actual page in the AT classifieds. Because of the way the site is coded, when you click on each item, the item's URL still shows up as the main listings page (e.g. Chicago's http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/classifieds). However if you right click on the item's link and select "open in a new window" or new tab, then the URL for the item will be its own unique URL! (E.g. http://classifieds.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/ad.php?adid=2889) It won’t have the frame/navigation of the AT classifieds, but AT could easily add a link that would send people back to the main page.
Sorry if this does not sound very clear but does anyone else know what I’m talking about? It seems to be a major usability flaw in the AT Classifieds design and I'm just trying to help make it better!
Elementarian -- I agree completely. I don't understand why they even bother with individual links to the AT classifieds, since they all just go to the main page. I've occasionally given up looking for an item because I can't find anything on the main classifieds page that matches the AT description.
