Name: Poet Vivienne Rose
Location: Dunedin, New Zealand
I had decided not to buy too much new stuff for my daughter's room and instead I was determined to use the bits and bobs I had collected from vintage stores and Trade Me (a New Zealand Craigslist). Very much a "let the cards fall where they may" approach to decorating the room.
Nothing in the room cost over $100 with most things under $10! The whole room had to be relined and insulated which we invested in, rather than expensive designer items.
A lot of items in the room are second hand and from Trade Me or vintage shops. Some of my favorite items include the Branbury Cross Light shade which cost $15 at an antiques shop and the wallpaper which is called 'la vie ordinarie' from Holden Decor. I bought it as an end of line (one roll left) from a local supplier for a heavily discounted $20. I had no idea what I was going to do with it for two years before I decided I WAS going to use it in Poet's Nursery no matter what! My husband had never wallpapered before and amazingly completed the job with only a 10 cm sliver left over. I love it with the star light which is just a cheap Christmas decoration too pretty to put away for 11 months a year.
