There's something so fascinating about getting a peek into another person's home — I love to see how other people live and the design and details they choose to surround themselves with. Pomona's thoughtfully decorated space is filled with both old and new treasures, with everything in the perfect place and every detail thought out. She's collected pieces from boutiques and stores all over the world, and has brought a bit of a boutique feel to her own space.
There are plenty of modern pieces, but situated among them are some carefully chosen antiques, which give the home an eclectic, layered look. Pomona is definitely inspired by prestige and luxury, as you can see in her artwork selection, but she's a master of mixing high and low to create a luxurious yet comfortable space.
For me, the wall display in the kitchen was the most impressive. I really felt like I was standing in a store, with the open shelves filled with perfectly styled housewares and decor accessories. It's like a wall of treasures, and you see something new each time you take a closer look. (If it was a store that set of owl mugs would definitely have gone home with me!)
Here's more on Pomona and her beautiful taste:
Apartment Therapy Survey:
My Style: Eclectic.
Inspiration: My travels around the globe.
Favorite Element: I like the contrast between decoration and modernism, and the historic references.
Biggest Challenge: Not enough space to showcase all my gorgeous pieces I have collected from our travels abroad.
What Friends Say: That my space feels like a beautiful store, and they are always finding new pieces.
Biggest Embarrassment: None! Our home has a special magic, and every piece tells a story. It inspires us every day and we feel blessed.
Proudest DIY: The picture frame wall art in the dinning area. It took me over 3 months to choose the right pictures and frames for this wall — it's a visual delight and of course all the throw pillows that I designed myself as House of Pomona.
Biggest Indulgence: The Eames lounge chair and ottoman.
Best Advice: You don’t have to follow rules and it doesn’t have to be perfect. If you feel a magical vibe every time you are present, that’s it. Use color to breathe energy into your home, and have fun.
Dream Sources: Antique markets in Europe for all the eclectic pieces, and Merci - a gorgeous concept store in Paris, France.
