The Ponoko Nocturne Chandelier, ($280)

We also love the Pollen Pendant ($245), which has a cool DIY element. You wrap and weave the material of choice around this pollen shaped structure. A ball of white yarn is included, but you can use whatever color or material that fits your decor.
Or if you have your own great idea, you can use the new Ponoko Photomake tool. You draw something with pencil and paper and upload it to Ponoko, and they will turn it into a "real life product." And there's much more than lighting. If it can be
Not only do we love this idea, but there's also the eco-benefits that come with on-demand production:
We cut the waste from oversupply by making products on-demand. We also cut carbon emissions by sourcing local materials and making products as close to the point of consumption as possible. dig the first one but not the second. it just looks like it doesn't know what it is - sihouette, yarn crafty thing, spikey, round...i dunno.
Geez - You could get an old brass chandelier from a yard sale and spraypaint it black and get a similar effect for less than $50.
Yes, bepsf, you could DIY the chandelier -- companies like this exist for those who don't want to DIY. (er, DI "T" for "themself"?) I think the price is pretty reasonable considering that.
I like the pollen lamp, too -- I think microphotography is fascinating and pollen always looks interesting.
You can get something very similar from Urban Outfitters for $36.
