Name: Pontus Loq
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Size: 1 bedroom apartment
How can someone so young have such an admirable grasp of balancing the requirements of putting together an exemplary home theater setup with the sophisticated aesthetic impression of a room as a whole? Oh yeah, this 22 year old gent puts us in our place and shows how to put together a home theater setup with everything going for it from an audio, video and decorative perspective. Check out the full breakdown of the components below and get ready to feel a tinge of envy.
From the Logitech Squeezebox Radio hooked up to a 5.1 surround system in the bedroom for wakeup duty to the liquid fuel fireplace in the dining area to heat up winter evenings to a most impressive home entertainment center all controlled by a Logitech Harmony 1100 remote (controlling lights, HDTV, switch and receiver), this Stockholm apartment is the epitome of being truly plugged in.
Note the combination of a darker, textured wallpaper background behind the home theater setup to ease the visual impact of so many electronic components in one space (the candle lighting stands near the stand speakers also soften their presence). Keeping everything with a similar palette of colours is a smart way of visually tying everything together and darker colours are especially effective for optimal viewing in darker rooms.
Pontus Loq also notes a familiar image from a few decades back as inspiration for his setup: the classic 1989 Maxell advertisement. Reviewing his specs and the photos, we don't doubt the effects.

big like ...
That is not a home theater - it is a television with 5.1 surround sound.
A theater has a front or rear projection screen, and a projector.
Nice, expensive speakers with no acoustic treatment or equalization means it might be okay for a gamer who doesn't know any better.
Pontus Loq's apartment looks pretty nice. The furniture and electronics are actually rather cheap, which only makes it more impressive that he makes it look good!
I think it's really the stone decor wall, moderation of colors and decent photography that makes it good.
These pictures can also be found at minhembio.com, along with many other galleries like it. One I really love is Glen Benton's.
i NEED one of those "big head" vases. does anyone know where i can get one?!
Maple- This setup is IMAX considering that most AT viewers think that putting their dinky little 32" LCD TV above their mantle qualifies as their "entertainment" center.
I know $1100/per floor speakers and $600 receiver in the realm of serious home theater setups is a paltry sum, but let's put this into perspective and note they're only "cheap" in the eyes of audiophiles and the well-heeled. Home theater comes in various sizes and budgets...
Ilike it!
yeah! where'd he get that shiny potted plant big head thing?!
I think Pontus' apartment looks wonderful. I think he did an amazing job. The flame in front of the screen looks very much like a Dayna Decker light -- love it!
I sincerely hope that yxskaft meant some of Pontus' items are inexpensive -- as opposed to "cheap"! Seems like quite a world of difference between the two words...
Haven't we seen this before? Seems like a rerun to me. Really nice place, but still a rerun.
